Power of Attorney (POA) Attestation & Apostille is among the most sensitive and legally impactful document verification procedures. A Power of Attorney legally empowers an appointed agent or attorney-in-fact to make binding financial, real estate, administrative, or business decisions on behalf of the principal grantor. Whether you are an NRI based abroad delegating property sale authority in India, or an Indian resident delegating power to a representative in Dubai, London, or New York, foreign and domestic registries strictly require diplomatic legalization before acknowledging the document.

The verification workflow depends on the country where the POA is executed and where it is to be utilized. When executed in India for use abroad, the grantor must sign the POA before an authorized Notary Public, accompanied by passport photographs and valid ID proofs. The document is then authenticated by the State Home Department or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), followed by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). For Hague countries, an MEA Apostille sticker is affixed; for non-Hague countries (such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, or Qatar), the document is legalized by the destination Embassy.

Upon arrival in the destination country, the POA is validated by the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and often requires local court registration or official Arabic/foreign language translation. For use in Hague countries (USA, UK, Canada, Australia): Requires Notary -> SDM -> MEA Apostille. For NRIs executing POA abroad for use in India: The POA must be attested at the Indian Consulate abroad and subsequently stamped at the District Registrar (Collector of Stamps) in India within 90 days.
